how everyday disciplines forge a path to wealth, health, and meaningful relationships

Dreams Start With Patience #65

Reading time: 5 minutes

In a world full of distractions, stressors, and constant stimuli, achieving a state of clarity—both mentally and spiritually—is essential.

When your mind is calm, your spirit soars, enabling you to navigate the complexities of modern life with ease.

This week’s newsletter explores three foundational disciplines to cultivate each day:

Wealth, Health, and Relationships, alongside insights into spirituality, intelligence, and productivity habits that protect your freedom.

Each section reflects a comprehensive approach to personal growth, encouraging you to invest time in yourself and pursue a life of intention.

Wealth: Mastering the Art of Leverage

Building real-world leverageable skills is the cornerstone of wealth creation.

Today’s economic landscape demands more than just monetary savvy—it requires an integrated approach to learning, application, and execution.

Let’s dive into it.

First up skill acquisition:

Embrace learning in areas such as branding, design, sales, accounting, artificial intelligence, coding, and more.

These skills not only enhance your marketability but also enable you to build, scale, and maintain successful businesses.

Think of every skill as a tool that can amplify your efforts, whether you're launching a side project or expanding your core operations.

The goal is to develop as a generalist, gain skills like a video-game, and then pursue specific knowledge (what Naval calls, knowledge that cannot be taught)

Figuring it out is apart of the process and stress is a neurological response to learning new and challenging information.

Understanding the Game of Money:

Knowledge about money management, investment strategies, and the economics behind businesses is vital.

Financial intelligence includes understanding psychological aspects, such as the insights from Carl Jung and Freudian theories, that influence how we interact with money and value.

A key idea to understand:

Everyone is playing a different money game than you, you’ve got to realize it’s you vs you when it comes to saving, investing, and making money.

Philosophical Alignment:

Wealth is not solely a numerical goal; it must align with your personal values and philosophy.

Dive into the works of Nietzsche, Seneca, Descartes, C.S. Lewis, Arthur Schopenhauer, and Albert Camus to ground your financial pursuits in a broader context.

Influential modern thinkers like Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, and Dan Koe offer contemporary insights into how wealth, work, and life intersect.

When you approach wealth as a holistic practice, it becomes not only a means to an end but also a reflection of your personal growth and vision.

Health: The Bedrock of Daily Excellence

Health is the non-negotiable foundation that supports every other area of your life.

A disciplined approach to health ensures that your body and mind are primed for action each day.

You get one chance early in your life to prime yourself for healthy habits, once those years are gone your lifestyle has a compounding effect.

Here’s some basics to get you started:

Sunlight:

Exposure to natural light is crucial.

It triggers vital processes in every cell, boosting your energy levels and supporting overall health.

Make it a daily goal to get outside, even if only for a short walk, to tap into the rejuvenating power of the sun.

It makes zero-sense we live in a world where this has to be said, but you’d be surprised at vitamin d levels in societies recently.

Sleep:

Never underestimate the restorative power of sleep.

Quality rest repairs tissues, reinforces your skeletal structure, and resets your mental clarity.

Aim for a consistent sleep schedule aligned with natural circadian rhythms.

The amount of sleep you get doesn’t matter as much as how consistent the number of hours is across the board. If you get 6 hours on a consistent basis, it’s much better than getting a handful of random numbers.

Movement:

Physical activity is indispensable.

Whether it’s walking, running, or engaging in strength training, incorporate movement into your daily routine.

Strive for 3-4 sessions per week at a minimum to keep your body active and resilient.

Especially as you age, over the age of 40 - men begin to lose 1% of the strength yearly.

Hydration and Nutrition:

Water is life.

But not all water is created and sourced equally.

With hydration, it’s important to balance electrolytes to keep muscles functioning optimally.

Nutritional choices should support your activity level and overall wellness:

Protein: Aim for 0.7g to 1g of protein per pound of body weight.

Carbohydrates: Adjust intake based on your physical exertion.

Fats: Focus on healthy fats for brain and organ health; avoid polyunsaturated fats, seed oils, and overly processed foods.

A simple yet effective diet might look like this:

Morning: Coffee and fruit until noon.

Afternoon: A protein shake to keep energy levels steady.

Meals: A cheat meal that adheres to healthy guidelines, followed by a nutritious, hearty meal.

Snacking: Prioritize water over unnecessary snacks.

Relationships: Nurturing Meaningful Connections

The quality of your relationships often reflects the depth of your character.

How you interact with family, friends, and colleagues is as crucial as any technical skill.

You will find the most fulfillment through developing your life and living it in a community.

I wouldn’t be much without the support of my people.

Charisma and Communication:

Relationships thrive on genuine connection and effective communication.

Practice conveying your thoughts clearly and actively listening to others

Remember, how you’re perceived can influence your personal and professional life.

Just don’t let it undermine your self-worth.

Intentional Focus:

Deep relationships require intentionality.

Dedicate time and energy to your closest connections.

Whether it’s family or a significant other, invest in quality time and meaningful conversations.

Where the attention goes, the energy flows.

Balancing Empathy and Self-Preservation:

It’s important to develop empathy and genuine interest in others.

At the same time, learn to “fake it” when necessary—smile, listen empathetically, and offer support without overinvesting emotionally.

This balance protects your energy while nurturing trust and mutual respect.

Individuals who find themselves being taken advantage of will have to learn this as a way of protecting themselves.

The Spiritual Dimension: Beyond the Physical Form

Spirituality can be the guiding light in the quest for a clear mind and spirit.

It involves understanding the separation between the body (form) and the soul (true essence).

Ego vs. True Self:

Recognize that while the ego is a part of you, it doesn’t define your entire being.

Often compared to a “drunk monkey,” the ego can be loud and demanding if given power.

Your soul, on the other hand, embodies peace and calm energy—the true essence of who you are.

Spiritual Practices:

Engage in practices like breathwork, meditation, and reading spiritual texts.

Periods of low stimulation, such as sitting quietly with your thoughts, can foster deep insights and realign your energy with your inner self.

Embrace a “fuck it” mentality when it comes to taking risks that push you out of your comfort zone.

Growth often requires stepping into the unknown.

Language and the Ineffable:

Understand that language can only point towards the ineffable aspects of spirituality.

True understanding transcends words, inviting you to experience life beyond rational definitions and structured thought.

Intelligence and the Art of Living

Intelligence isn’t just about being book-smart—it’s about getting what you want out of life.

It’s defined by the ability to simplify your desires and achieve a state of flow.

Redefining Intelligence:

Conventional intelligence often centers around memorization and quick recall.

However, the real measure of intelligence lies in how well you harness your desires, manage attachments, and ultimately find fulfillment with less.

The Path to Enlightenment:

A minimalist approach to desire can lead to a state of flow, where life becomes less about the pursuit of endless wants and more about appreciating the moment.

This balance is key:

Ambition fuels progress, excessive desire can lead to discontent.

Recognize that there is no singular path to enlightenment; instead, embrace the journey that resonates most with your truth.

Productivity Habits: Securing Your Freedom

Creating and maintaining effective productivity habits is essential for safeguarding your freedom in a demanding world.

A disciplined daily routine can help you stay centered and focused.

Dual Alarms and Consistent Sleep:

Begin and end your day with intention.

Set two alarms.

One to rise and one to signal bedtime

And stick to a consistent sleep schedule that respects the natural rhythms of the day.

Daily Priorities:

Every evening, create a list of three critical tasks for the next day.

This simple practice focuses your energy on what truly matters, reducing mental clutter and paving the way for productive action.

Physical Movement and Mental Clarity:

Regular exercise, whether through dedicated workout sessions or brisk walks away from screens, is vital.

Physical movement is a metaphor for mental cleansing: by moving your body, you also create space for a clearer, more focused mind.

Mind-Body Connection:

Remember, cleaning up the mental clutter is as crucial as maintaining a tidy physical space.

Techniques like breathwork, karmic release practices, and even nurturing your gut health (which supports neurotransmitter function) all contribute to a balanced life.

When you commit to these disciplines:

Wealth, health, relationships, spirituality, intelligence, and productivity

You’re not just setting yourself up for success.

You’re cultivating a life that’s rich in purpose and passion.

Clear your mind, and your spirit will follow, paving the way for a future defined not by chaos, but by clarity and growth.

Embrace these practices daily, and you’ll find that true freedom comes from within, empowering you to achieve whatever you set your heart and mind on.
