The Hidden Power Within

Dreams Start With Patience #14

Reading time: 2 minutes

What to expect:

  1. Navigating a world of different values

  2. Explore the often overlooked role of self-reflection in personal growth

  3. Unlocking a new perspective on life's value and your personal power.

At our core - majority of people you meet are spiritual.

In some way, religious or non-religious

Intrinsic power and drive comes from being attuned to your highest self.

A lot and I mean A LOT of the value you gain in life will come from intrinsic endeavors

What is an intrinsic endeavor you may ask?

intrinsic - adjective

belonging to a thing by its very nature:

endeavor - noun

activity directed toward a goal:

The pursuit of a better life, better goals, and better health is a noble one - specifically when the reason for doing so is not outside of yourself.

Self-reflection is one of the concepts I talk about frequently.

In order to reflect you have to take action in some way.

An intrinsic endeavor is your project

With enough effort spent into this project you then have time to self-reflect on this project with useful questions like:

-What did I gain from doing this?
-Did this go against my expectations?
-If I failed tomorrow would I continue doing so?

The Popularity of Extrinsic Goals:

Extrinsic goals present a existential dilemma; the moment you achieve them you will not be fulfilled.

Consider the 20 year old who’s only desire is to be rich and famous.

Once you’ve achieved this reality, what’s next?

That’s a phase of life people frame as “being lost”

Being lost isn’t inherently a bad thing - the masses will believe it to be so.

All states of mind are temporary.

Almost like the changing of the seasons

Have you ever thought of what extrinsic goals motivate those around you?
Of course you have, it’s human nature to want status, wealth, and freedom.

I never used to believe in intrinsic drive.

I would say to myself - “Wow, that person is a sell-out. They’re only doing x or y for the money and fame”

While, in many cases this is true. We hear of the high-performer who thoroughly enjoys their work.

Someone who has fun - this concept; fun

How incredibly foreign in today’s society when used in context with work and goals.

Fun + Intrinsic Endeavor = lethal combination for success

Tools of Creation

We all are creative

We all are capable of improving every aspect of our lives

We all can be someone worthy of knowing

We all have untapped intrinsic endeavors.

Some realize this, others deny their potential/highest self.

My little sister told me profound advice when I found myself critiquing myself and others so intensely it drove me to misery.

“People do the best they can with the tools they’ve been taught.”

At the time, I laughed, chose to disagree and moved on.

This concept she taught me - has stuck with me since then.

The tools we have for creation almost seem endless.

Possibilities galore.

Intrinsic endeavors show up all the time - yet we choose not to pursue them.

We choose to pursue the safe route, the route of which has been laid out for us.

Clear as day, or is it?

Wealth, health and happiness right? It seems too simple.

But, why? Why do we decide that the motivators of fabricated wealth and unrealistic status claims make us any better as individuals?

The reality is - less is more

Everyone is trying to be someone they’re not.

Everyone is trying to live a life that’s not theirs by design.

Everyone follows the status quo and refuses to live life any differently.

How does this not light a fire inside of you?

I’m assuming if you’re reading this, you must be an individual who seeks to understand regardless of personal feelings.

My opinion is simple, nothing is as it seems.

We have to look for alternatives - creative solutions to the biggest problems.

Remember this concept from George Mack

Look at the people heavily divided over a topic

Side A vs Side B

Now, look into the thick of it or around the outskirts.

Who are the people looking for a third door?

Those are the people you want to watch and connect with

This got introduced to me by a friend, I thought it was brilliant.

A 3rd option always exists, yet we are blind to it in the heat of competition

Life is very much grey, not always black and white.
