Growth From Failure in 2023

Imagine finding freedom from your failure.

Dreams Start With Patience #33

Reading time: 2 minutes

You don’t know pain until your mismanaged expectations bite you in the ass.

The frost on my windshield in the mornings tells me we are closer to the end of another year.

With another year gone - what do the majority of us have to show for it?

Better minds? Improved behavior? Gnarly aesthetics and strength?

We made some impact - sure. But how many negative traits and events did we let overwhelm us in the process?

Principle: You can either rise or crumble when performing under stress.

The key difference in how people respond?

The beliefs they have about stress.

If you believe stress is positive for performance - then you will perform better under stress.

And the opposite rings true - if you believe stress is negative for performance you will fall flat on your face.

Growth and failure carpool together towards the final destination of “success”

It’s inevitable you will feel crushed by your failures.

It happens.

The likelihood of it killing you is typically fairly low.

Hopelessness is the price for entry into high-growth and high performance.

Lessons Life Beat Me With In 2023

1. Not committing is committing to not committing.

2. You get what you ask for in life.

3. Love and relationships have infinite upsides but limited downsides.
(Makes for high ROI and low risk, outside of befriending a murderer)

4. Change is going to happen you can’t control it.
It’s down to you if it’s good or bad.

5. You naturally start to take your blessings for granted.
(A gratitude practice offsets this)

6. Everyone has stress, find a way to deal with it. Preferably in a non-toxic way.
(Meditation, cold exposure, exercise, hobbies, etc.)

7. People fall into 3 buckets:

•Don’t care about you
•Can be swayed by how they feel about you
•People who love and support you
(Don’t take the latter for granted)

8. Writing opens and sharpens your thinking.

Reading provides you with substance in your writing.

9. You don’t need anyone’s permission to:
•To exist
•To be happy
•To improve
