1 Major Idea For Your Saturday.

1 Major Idea to contemplate about:
Overcoming demoralization as a creative individual.
This piece is for young creatives who are having trouble with demoralization and grief.
By the time you’re done reading you will know how to defeat the demoralization demon.
I have worked with dozens of young creatives in order to expand their thinking about creativity and productivity. Time to take action.

Unrealistic Expectations

My name is Zachariah Rock, I’m a productivity coach for creatives.

I ask you to notice the stereotypes of creative individuals.

Just as a point of reference, let’s list a few.

I’m sure some came to mind, here’s what I see.

-Creatives are NOT successful
-Creatives are idealistic and naive
-Creatives are arrogant
-Creatives abuse drugs, alcohol and sex
-Creatives die broke.

You see nothing frustrates me more than this narrative.

Anytime I see someone pursuing a creative endeavor outside of the traditional route using the internet - I salute them, congratulate them, and tell them I’m excited to see where their work takes them.

The journey of the creative is a formidable one.

Not many make it out alive.

Only because as human beings we need the support of our species, as a creative you do not get that meaningful support often.

Creative individuals are expected to bare the weight of consumers.

Some crumble, some don’t get the practical support, and in the worst case scenario some are expected of such rigorous output that they turn to drugs and alcohol.

You see, the formula for creativity I’ve explored is

Grief + action = spontaneous incredible work.

Creativity cannot be spawned out of thin air.
Although - this seems to be a great way of expression.

My goal: To help creatives form systems and habits for productivity - which in turn gives them more time to cultivate their craft.

The problem: In 2023, if you’re a creative you probably realize your efforts to keep up with the algorithm typically becomes a frustrating game of cat and mouse.

You are sacrificing quality for quantity - this results in demoralization.

Regardless of the app, we live in a world of instant gratification.

Your art and insight is worth much more than you realize - the creative act is the core human essence.

How You Can Be A Force For Good

Creatives need to support each other.

The importance of this cannot be said enough.

The creative community is in shambles.

You should be tired of seeing some of the brightest and most beautiful minds struggling.

This will only get accelerated with the advancements of AI.

You can either choose to be a force for support or hate.

The message within the act of creation is this, “Cooperation over competition”

The desire for many to create seems primal and raw.

People choose to create over general upkeep.

What you say needs to be actionable, not just for entertainment.

In 2023, you have the power to convey ideas to others.

Whether or not you consciously realize this.

What you say, how you ideate, and why you conversate matters.

You can either uplift or destroy.

The choice is yours, I would recommend supporting your creative family or friends because one day their creative ideas just might save the world.

The Unfortunate Nature Of Reality

Life is fucking hard.

You don’t have to say it anymore.

You need to realize this is an innate part of the human experience.

But, demoralization is inevitable.

How do you deal with moments in time when this is prevalent in your life?

You continue.

One step, in front of the other.

Grit.

Grit is one of those everyday tools.

Happiness can be developed through staring down the bullshit head on.

The way you act when you’re at your worst is the true core of your values.
