Dreams Start With Patience #42
Reading time: 2 minutes
No matter how stressful things seem - you will make it through.
Times of physical and emotional discomfort are prevalent in our human lives.
By better understanding life's ups and downs, we can seek to challenge and prepare ourselves for disaster.
This past week, it felt like a lot in my life fell apart (once again).
Clarity on what I need to do is at an all-time high.
Why does pain breed clarity?
Starting in February
I'm opening up 2 slots for my 1 on 1 coaching.
Imagine you have incredible systems for content creation and a fulfilling personal brand.
If you are:
-A creator looking to improve your content creation and marketing approach for online business.
-In need of systems that work and guide through the chaos of the creator economy
-Ready to invest in your storytelling abilities
When in chaos, we cling to the hope that things will get better.
Oftentimes they do.
Or this sense of “normal” runs away only to return as a “new” normal.
What can we do to keep ourselves from self-destruction?
Unplug, disconnect, seek solitude, reevaluate, and stop.
Our negative habits pop up to provide us with some emotional self-soothing.
What you do in these moments defines you at your core.
Just this week alone I’ve had my fair share of goodbyes, emergencies, and everything that can go wrong - go wrong.
These are the stories that show us what we are.
So I’ve embraced the suck - something good friends have preached to me time and time again.
In the past, I’ve self-destructed.
I don’t want to do that anymore.
I want to be in control of my mind and how I react to stress, grief, and the emotional toll of hard times.
My philosophy?
How you do one thing - is how you do everything.
A reaction is normal → we can all better ourselves through proactive action though.
Being proactive against chaos is not a normal state but a trained one.
When the going gets tough - stomp on through one step at a time.
You can allow yourself to feel.
But you cannot allow yourself to define these moments poorly and let them shape you.
A close friend who I respect told me this the other day:
“Get the "f**k over it.”
You have to → we are constantly recognizing the negatives of our past and the negatives of the potential future.
But why? We must be hardwired that way.
It’s because recognizing the positive and acting toward the positive takes 100x more effort than being and seeing the negative.
Our relationships determine our happiness, wealth, and self-worth.
Quality relationships must be nurtured.
Poor relationships must be cut off.
We’re all self-concerned.
How can you expect people not to be?
Marcus Aurelius (Stoic and Roman Emperor) said…
“Be tolerant of others and strict with yourself.”
This is relevant years into the future.
Why?
Because you can’t control the actions and emotions of others. Only yourself.
Relationships are a lifelong game.
Take this perspective and allow people to be as they are.
Acceptance of yourself and others is the only way to play the long game.
If you’re playing short-term games, with short term people - I ask:
What the f**k are you doing?
Thanks for reading!
